Wouter 2nd overall at Tour of Jamtland
The Tour of Jamtland finished on Saturday after the toughest stage of the three day race. It was all to play for going into the final 210km stage, with 1800 metres of climbing from Trondheim in Norway to Are in Sweden.
It was a frantic start with various teams trying to establish breaks on the early climbs but it was Wouter Sybrandy, Alexander Gingsjo from Trek Sweden and a somewhat reluctant Jonas Bjelkmark from Team Cykelcity who final made the cut. With other teams in the bunch relying on the each other to bring the break back the lead soon grew out to over 13 minutes.
Wouter was the overall leader on the road until the last 15km when the Swedes launched an attack together. Frustrating for us as the Cyckelcity rider had sat on the whole race and only came through for the sprints and KOM points! But that’s bike racing for you and Wouter did superb job to ensure that the lead wasn’t enough for him to loose 2nd place overall.
Simon Richardson secured 9th place overall and Pete Hawkins was up there to contest the brunch sprint on the final stage. It was a great effort from all the boys, Dan Craven and Tom Last worked well covering numerous attacks and Dan Lloyd’s experience in the peloton was ever present.
A big thank you to Anders Bromee, Mattias Swelander and their team for a great few days racing. Looking forward to 2013!
