Team all set for the Tour of Britain
With the Tour of Britain taking place in just under a week’s time, Team IG Sigma Sport have announced their team to take on the 8 day-stage race.
Team captain, Simon Richardson will race his 6th Tour of Britain this year and will be joined by Dutchman Wouter Sybrandy, Irishman Peter Hawkins, Tom Last, Dan Craven and Daniel Lloyd.
“The Tour of Britain is always the highlight of my season, and from the end of June becomes the primary focus. It’s a great opportunity to race against some of the best riders in the world. I’ll pick a couple of stages in which I’d like to try and feature, and as always the GC will be in the back of my mind. This year the last three stages look on paper like they will be the most selective and so it’s these that I will be looking at with particular interest.
Our team is well balanced, with guys for GC and breakaways, and also a contender for the bunch sprints so we will have something to play for every day’’ said Simon Richardson.
Team IG Sigma Sport have also enlisted the support of former Garmin-Cervelo rider, Roger Hammond for the race. Roger is managing the new Madison Genesis team which will hit the road in 2013 but is kindly supporting us for the Tour of Britain. Roger has previously won stages of the Tour of Britain and comes to the race with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Our partners IG Markets continue their sponsorship of the Gold Jersey and team sponsors Specialized will be the Official Neutral Service Provider for 2012.
Head of Sponsorship, Olly Stevens “We are really looking forward to seeing the team attack the Tour of Britain and continue on where they left off last year. This year’s race for the IG Leaders jersey looks to be the most competitive yet with the Tour de France, World and former Olympic Champions on the start line. It is clearly going to be tough but this is our strongest line up yet and we are expecting the guys to be aggressive throughout’’.
