Official Charity Partner onboard for 2013
Team IG Sigma Sport are pleased to announce that Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research will be their Official Charity partner for the forthcoming 2013 season.
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research are the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into blood cancers including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The charity are supported by former England Footballer Geoff Thomas who was diagnosed with Leukaemia back in 2003 and has since taken to cycling as a major fundraiser for his cause, completing the Tour de France route twice.
“We have been working hard in the close season to secure additional partners for the team and I am really looking forward to working with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research next year. They are fully committed to a number of cycling events including their iconic London Bikeathon and a new London to Paris ride in 2013 so the association with a professional cycling team makes a great fit’’ said Becky Frewing, IG Sigma Sport General Manager.
Geoff Thomas said: “National interest in the sport has never been higher, so this is the ideal time for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research to be partnering with a successful and ambitious cycling team. Working with IG Sigma Sport will help us build on our cycling heritage and provide huge opportunities to raise our profile and help us beat blood cancer’’.
“Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is delighted to become the official charity partner of IG Sigma Sport. With our 25 years experience organising cycling fundraising events, the partnership is a perfect match. This relationship will help us raise our essential funds and will play a leading role throughout 2013 in our mission to beat blood cancer’’ said Dan Solley – Head of Sports Events at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
